Evansville is home to Corporate Headquarters including, Accuride, Atlas Van Lines, Berry Plastics, Mead Johnson, Old National Bank, Shoe Carnival and Vectren. The city is also home to American General Finance, a division of AIG. Major manufacturing operations in the Evansville area include, AK Steel in Rockport, Alcoa in Newburgh, SABIC in Mt. Vernon and Toyota in Princeton.
The Victory Theatre - a vintage 1,950 seat venue that is home to the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra. Each year, the Philharmonic presents several classic, double pop, and special event concerts. Evansville Civic Theatre is one of Indiana's longest running community theatre. The New Harmony Theatre is another professional theatre located within driving distance of Evansville.
Evansville has many Museums. The Reitz Home Museum is Evansville's only Victorian House Museum. Evansville also has a new Children's Museum which open in September of 2006. The USS LST Ship Memorial Museum was open in October 2005. The Evansville Museum of Arts, History and Science is a significant cultural center.
Evansville is home to one of the largest street fairs held, west of the downtown area. The West Side Nut Club Fall Festival is held the first full week in October. Paul Harvey once remarked that only Mardi Gras in New Orleans is larger than the Fall Festival.
Evansville has many attractions: Amazonia - Mester Park Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Burdette Park Aquatic Center, Angel Mounds State Historic Site, Swonder Ice Arena and Skate Park, Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve & Park and Casino Aztar.
Evansville also offers several sports favorites: Evansville Otters Professional Baseball team plays home games at Historic Bosse Field, which the box office hit "A League of their Own" was also filmed at Bosse Field, Evansville Icemen Professional Hockey League, and Ohio River Bearcats Semi-Pro Football Team.
Downtown Evansville is alive! A new arena is being constructed and is scheduled to open in late 2011. This state of the art, multi-purpose facility will be the regions center for sports and entertainment.
